Product Story
Hanzhong Xianhao Green Tea A Living Heritage of Mountain Spring Hanzhong Xianhao is a nationally protected geographic indication tea from the Qinba mountain range of Shaanxi, China—recognized as one of the finest expressions of Chinese green tea. Grown on the northern slopes of the Daba Mountains at elevations between 800 and 1,600 meters, the tea gardens are surrounded by dense forests, mist-laden air, and mineral-rich soil abundant in zinc and selenium. Often described as the “Jiangnan of the Northwest,” this region offers an ideal environment for slow, balanced growth. The history of tea in this region dates back over three thousand years. During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, tea from Hanzhong was already presented as tribute—known then as Xixiang Yuetuan—carrying with it a legacy of refinement and cultural significance. A Refined Sensory Experience Hanzhong Xianhao reveals its character through form, aroma, and taste—each layer unfolding with quiet precision. Appearance Slender, gently flattened leaves, uniform and elegant, with a tender green hue and a delicate covering of fine silver tips. Aroma Bright and persistent, with notes of fresh spring greens, soft floral tones, and occasional hints of beans or orchid. Liquor Clear, luminous, and pale green. As it brews, the leaves rise and suspend in the water— like a quiet forest standing in stillness. Taste Fresh and vibrant, with a smooth, rounded body. Bitterness is minimal, while a gentle sweetness emerges, leaving a cooling, lingering finish. Brewing as a Gentle Art To experience the full clarity of this tea, attention to detail becomes part of the ritual. Teaware A clear glass cup or a porcelain gaiwan allows the leaves to be seen as they unfold. Water Temperature 80–90°C (176–194°F) Lower temperatures preserve its delicate freshness and prevent bitterness. Leaf-to-Water Ratio Approximately 3g of tea for 200–300ml of water. Brewing Method Warm the vessel first, then add the tea leaves. Pour water gently to about 70% full. • First infusion: brief (around 10 seconds) • Subsequent infusions: extend gradually by 5–10 seconds A Personal Offering This tea comes from my home region— a taste I have known since childhood.
